When I was a bar tender back in the day at Carino’s Italian we had a whole bunch of random drinks we had to make, if you can imagine. And not all of them had to be alcoholic. We made some fun virgin beverages too, like Italian sodas, strawberry daiquiris, and pina coladas.
One of my favorite nonalcoholic fruity drinks was a mix between a strawberry daiquiri and a pina colada called a Strawberry Blonde. (It could be made with alcohol too but we all loved to make these for ourselves with the recipe coming up.) My friend, Che’, (pronounced “chay”, who is now my brother-in-law and married to my twin) made the best Strawberry Blondes EVER. So today I bring you his version of one of my favorite drink treats. Making these takes me right back to those fun days with my friends where we were all servers and got to hang out all the time because we all worked together. I miss and love you all! 🙂
This recipe has only four ingredients, including the ice. That’s it! The strawberry part of this drink comes from frozen strawberries you get at the store. Simply let the strawberries thaw then place the entire contents in the blender. Press that puree button and watch the magic happen. You’ll have a wonderful strawberry soup in just seconds. Place the pureed strawberries in a container you can put a lid on so you can use some of if for a drink or two, then save the rest for later.
This is where the magic happens. This recipe calls for ice, half strawberries, half pina coloda mix, and a splash of orange juice. And that’s it! Blend everything together and you’ve got yourself an amazing and delicious drink for summer. Happiness is. (Measurements of drink will vary depending on the size of glass.)
